Food Network’s “Road Tasted with the Neelys” visits Bozeman foodies.

Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008

A few weeks ago Sweet Pea Bakery entertained some special guests: Gina and Pat Neely from the Food Network program “Road Tasted with the Neelys”. They stopped in to spend some time with our own Carrie O, baking and tasting some of her amazing Key Lime Torte.

Key Lime Pie should not be green!

Of course they found plenty of great locally-produced treats around the valley, and will be featuring four local foodies on an episode which will first air on the evening of Tuesday, September 16th. The Food Network is cable channel 49 in Bozeman. Here is the press release from the network, but be sure to check your local listings or on-screen guide for the precise air times.

Premiering September 16th at 9:30pm ET/PT

Montana: Big Taste in Big Sky Country

Pat and Gina take on Montana, and the first stop is Amaltheia Organic Dairy where they watch the state’s best goat’s milk transform into feta and ricotta cheese. At Sweet Pea Bakery, the Key Lime Torte is a delicious cross between a key lime pie and a cheesecake. Celtic Sea Salt® Caramel, a familiar treat with a unique twist, is an award-winning success at Bequet Confections. Lastly, it’s Wild Sockeye Salmon Spread at Montana Mountain Smoke.

Please tune in on Tuesday the 16th to show your support for these locally-owned businesses and to learn more about some of the amazing goodies being made every day right where you live.

Not another tie: This year, get dad something you know he will love.

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

Father’s day is a tough holiday to shop for. Unlike mom, who is happy to drop hints about what she would like for her special day, dad is more reserved. You have to be paying attention to get at what he really wants. You might notice a casual comment, a hint of a smile and then it’s gone.

If you can’t figure out what will make your dad smile this Father’s Day (June 15th) we have a suggestion: Get him a made-from-scratch cake or dessert from Sweet Pea Bakery. We have a great list of dad-tested favorites he’s sure to remember, even when last year’s tie is being used as a shop rag.

Made from scratch

German Chocolate cake is a good one; not only do dads love chocolate cake, maybe he could never enjoy his favorite because the kids didn’t like coconut. Maybe dad had to sacrifice his love for Key Lime Pie all those years because you were picky about citrus. Maybe he never got as much Cheesecake as he would like because you and your brother were always fighting over the big piece. It’s never too late to make it up to him. Pay him back with a dessert he can share with mom, or keep all to himself.

Is your dad more low-key? Maybe he would like a warm batch of cookies delivered to work. Sweet Pea Bakery can do that, too. Call us @ 406 586-8200 to place your Father’s Day order by June 12th to be picked up or delivered on the 15th.

Some notes on spring cleaning. . .

Sunday, April 13th, 2008

First of all, thanks to everyone who came downtown for the Bridal Walk yesterday. We had a lot of fun meeting all of you. Here is the link to the virtual brochure we mentioned. It seems like whenever we offer free cake the word gets out, and we have a hard time keeping up! The nice weather may have had something to do with the turnout, too.

Last week we said “so long” to Nathan, but also welcomed Portia to the Sweet Pea fold. Nate has been making the important parts of many of the Sweet Pea Bakery treats you have been enjoying for awhile now. He is leaving us to train for this summer’s Great Divide Race; a 2500 mile, self-supported bicycle trek across the mountain west which he will run on a single speed bicycle. Pedal fast, sir!

New sign from the inside.

Anyway, about the spring cleaning. Please help clean up your neighborhood Saturday, April 26th as part of Clean Up Bozeman day. You can come to Bogert Park to register, get supplies, and meet your neighbors, or just find some trash to pick up where you are. Either way, please take an opportunity to put a fresh face on our community as spring arrives. Sweet Pea bakers will be out cleaning so please forgive us if we open a little late that day, it is for a good cause!

Speaking of spring, we have some awesome warm weather specials available to order through the spring season. Check out Carrie’s amazing Lime-in-the-Coconut Cake with fresh blueberries, lime curd, and whipped cream frosting. Or re-acquaint yourself with Sweet Pea’s famous Key Lime Torte, a ray of sunshine that has become one of our best sellers. Call us at 406 586-8200 to place an order.

Enjoy the weather everyone, and don’t forget to turn out for Clean-Up day!
